The Chandler C of E Junior School

PE and Sport Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools in England to improve physical education (PE), physical activity, and sport.

Its purpose is to help schools:

  • improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.

  • encourage active lifestyles and increase participation.

  • support the development of physical skills and overall well-being.

PE and Sport Premium 2024-2025

Funding is calculated by reference to the number of pupils at each school. Primary Schools receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus an additional payment of £10 per pupil. This resulted in funding of £18,870 for the academic year 2024-2025.

At The Chandler, we use the funding to:

  • hire qualified sports coaches.

  • provide training for staff to improve PE teaching.

  • offer extra-curricular activities and clubs.

  • introduce new sports and physical activities.

  • improve facilities and equipment.

More details on how PE and sports provision at The Chandler was enhanced using the funding for the academic year 2024-2025 can be found in the digital expenditure reporting return submitted to the DfE, as set out below:
