The Chandler C of E (Aided) Junior School

Welcome to Our School Website

'A Child who is happy in their environment , is more likely to learn.'

Mr. Burgess is appointed Headteacher!

Mr. Tim Burgess was recently appointed as the new Headteacher for The Chandler School. Tim has worked in the local area for many years and was previously Deputyhead at Holy Trinity.

Last week, two of our children (Megan Hurley and Sophie Rafter from 6B) caught up our new head to talk about the interview he had and to get to know a little more about him.

The interview with Mr Burgess

What got you interested in teaching, and do you enjoy it?

I always liked children, I was the youngest of many brothers and sister and I enjoy mucking around with children. I always leap out of bed at the thought of going to the chandler again, there is a phrase “You either see the glass half empty or half full” I like to think of it half full.

Do you have any plans for the future?

I’d like to make the grounds more interesting for everyone’s use, because fresh air is healthy for us, we spend far to long every day cooped up indoors, going outside is a good way to keep happy and smiling and that is what Chandler Children are all about!

Where have taught before?

I have taught at six schools before, and in fact I met some one who I taught all those many years ago and now they have their children coming here!

What do you think of the Chandler so far?

I think the Chandler is absolutely brilliant; the staff are really encouraging and happy. The children are really funny and smiley.

Do you have any hobbies, and if so what?

Yes I do have many hobbies, I like to walk in the mountains with my dad and I spend quite a lot of the time reading. And I do watch the football on TV.I guess I like doing lots of sports to.

Thank you, Mr Burgess for letting us interview you.
