Welcome to the Chandler School
General Information page
Our school is much more than just facts and numbers - we very much hope that this website gives you a flavour of what makes The Chandler a very special school in addition to lots of practical information which may be of use to parents and prospective parents.
Here is some information relating to the ethos and values of our school as well as our admission policy and information about our school uniform. Please feel free to contact us if you would like further information. You can phone the school or contact us directly by e-mail using the contact us webpage.
MISSION STATEMENT
We provide a safe, secure and caring, Christian environment in which children can develop academically, socially, creatively, spiritually and morally. We aim for our pupils to be become fully equipped for the challenges of later life in an advancing technological world and an integrated society. We value all achievements, talents and interests and recognise the importance of the development of the "whole" child through the setting of high expectations and a challenging yet creative curriculum.
CHANDLER SCHOOL VALUES
These values have been formulated by staff and children and discussed, and are values that everyone at The Chandler School works towards. They may feature in classroom charters (although not necessarily in this format) and in other documentation. We believe that they are all positive statements worth striving for.
We show respect for property, achievements and opinions of others.
We show tolerance, support, sympathy and politeness to all.
We value trustworthiness and integrity.
We enjoy healthy competitiveness.
We set high personal standards in behaviour and academic work.
We believe in good team, school and community spirit.
The School Day
The school day at The Chandler begins at 9.00am and ends at 3.20pm.
Below is a copy of our school timetable.
| Morning Session 9.00 a.m. – 12.15 p.m. | Children may come into the school building from 8.50 a.m. There is supervision by staff on the playground from 8.40 a.m. Parents must be aware that children should not be on the premises before 8.40 a.m. All children go into their classes for registration at 9.00 a.m. Children who come into school after this time must report to the main office and will be marked late. Frequent lateness is noted in regular visits by our Education Welfare Officer. |
| Mid-Morning Break | 15 minute break. Children may eat a snack of a piece of fruit or cheese only at breaktime. We are currently still working on a split playtime since the completion of our building project. The Lower Juniors go out to play at 10.35am and the Uppers go out at 11.00am. |
| 12.15 p.m. - 1.15 p.m. - Lunch Break | Children eat lunch in year groups in the Hall. Children with packed lunches follow the same routine. |
|
Please note due to several children having
severe nut allergies to tree nuts and peanuts we operate a
NO NUT product policy.

|
Afternoon Session 1.15p.m. - 3.20 p.m.
|
The Milford coach leaves promptly at the end of school. Unless they are involved in an official ‘after school’ activity, all children should have been collected by 3.40 p.m. The Milford coaches are public service buses, not a school service. The Thursley coach leaves at 3.45 p.m. |

School Uniform
This section gives you an overview of our school uniform and a breakdown of costs. From this section you can download a uniform request form which can be completed prior to visiting the uniform shop at The Chandler.
We expect all children to wear The Chandler School uniform so that they look a credit to themselves and the School, and it enhances a sense of belonging to our community.
Rings, necklaces and chains are not permitted. Watches may be brought into school but we ask that they be CLEARLY marked and handed to the class teacher for all P.E. and games lessons.
Each child will need a clearly labelled draw-string shoe bag. This is recommended rather than a satchel or sports bag because of a shortage space in our cloakrooms.
A painting overall will keep your child’s clothes clean during craft work. Dad’s old shirt with the sleeves shortened makes an excellent cover-up!
