C3

What is C3?

A little like a junior Duke of Edinburgh Award, The Chandler Community Challenge (C3) is a scheme to encourage life long learning. It is called C3 because it links school, home and the individual and offers three areas for self development; Self , Skill and Service.

Aims and Objectives of C3

  • To reflect, support and enhance The Chandler ethos of ‘Let Your Light Shine’ beyond the school day.
  • To provide activities within the programme that are achievable and FUN and present the children with appropriate challenges in terms of purpose and achievement.
  • To encourage a spirit of adventure & self discovery
  • To develop a sense of responsibility for oneself and others.
  • To encourage personal development, practical skills and giving to others.
  • To provide children with opportunities to foster increased self-esteem and confidence.

C3 is about offering service in the community, developing new skills and learning to be healthy. We are calling the three areas Self, Skill and Service. Self is a physical challenge set by each child to improve their health or fitness. Skill is a personal challenge to learn or improve a skill or talent. Service is a practical challenge chosen to be of use to family, friends or the community.

We have created a zip file containing the three forms children are required to complete each area of of their C3 award.  This file includes a list of suggested activities we have all come up with so far of the sort of things they can do.  The list is divided into Self, Skill and Service although there is some cross over. We really hope this scheme will help make a difference to the children's lives, the lives of those around them and really encourage them to ‘Let their Light Shine’!
